Content Removal
Dispute a record or request PII redaction.
We take data accuracy and privacy seriously. If you believe a record on RecentScam is incorrect, outdated, or violates your privacy rights, you may request its removal or redaction.
Criteria for Removal
We typically grant removal requests for the following reasons:
- Proven Inaccuracy: You can demonstrate that the number/domain is legitimate and was flagged in error (false positive).
- Ownership Change: You recently acquired a phone number or domain that was previously used by a scammer/bad actor.
- PII Violation: A report contains your full home address, SSN, or other private data not relevant to the scam warning.
- Legal Order: A valid court order requires the removal of the content.
How to Submit a Request
To ensure your request is processed quickly, please send an email to our support team with the subject line "REMOVAL REQUEST".
Required Information
- Link to the specific record
- Reason for removal
- Proof of ownership (if applicable)
All requests are reviewed manually. Please allow up to 72 hours for a response. Identifying us as "Scam" to email providers to suppress our existence will result in immediate permanent listing.
What we do NOT remove
We will not remove records simply because they are "unflattering". If there is credible evidence of scam activity associated with an identifier, the public interest in safety outweighs the reputational interest of the entity, unless accurate ownership change is proven.
